Where the $200 comes from
Two movers and a truck bill at $88 an hour. The two-hour minimum is $176 of labor. On a short hop inside one neighborhood the drive between addresses is roughly seven minutes, which California requires us to double, so about fifteen minutes goes on the clock — another $22. That is the $198 we round to $200 on the quote. Cross-town jobs move up the table because the drive is longer, not because the sofa got heavier: a Venice-to-Pasadena single item carries roughly 50 minutes of doubled drive time, which is where $230–$300 comes from. Nothing else is added — no fuel surcharge, no stair fee, no mileage.
How small is a small load?
“Small” is a volume, not a feeling. A 15-foot truck holds roughly 700 to 800 cubic feet. Here is where the usual jobs land against that:

Anything in the first four rows is a small load, and it is the work we do most. Below about fifteen items the job runs on a two-hour minimum instead of the three-hour minimum a full household move carries — small jobs should not pay full-move minimums, which is the whole reason the shorter minimum exists.
